Grain To Glass

121 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Hello guys Toni B Here, and I snatch this bottle as a bundle for a good price, so I decided to opened this bottle last week and spent some time with it. This is the Heaven Hill Grain to Glass release coming in at 121 proof and part of their program where they control everything from mashbill all the way through aging and bottling. The MSRP of this bottle is around $100 to $130, depending where you get it.  But let's go into the review.

On the nose I get classic bourbon sweetness right away. Lots of caramel, light vanilla, toasted oak and a touch of honey. There’s also a gentle baking spice note with a bit of grain character that reminds you this release is meant to highlight the full process.

On the palate it drinks pretty solid and well put together. Rich caramel and brown sugar come first, followed by cinnamon spice, toasted wood and a hint of roasted nuts. The proof gives it a nice Kentucky warmth without completely overpowering the sip. The finish is medium to long with lingering oak and spice.

I added a few drops of water and that definitely helped open it up. The caramel, vanilla and baking spice became a bit more expressive.

Overall I think it’s a well made bourbon. My only hesitation is the price. Around the $99 mark there are a lot of strong bottles competing in that range, so that’s where I struggle a bit with the value.

Will be posting more reviews soon. Just a heads up, I buy all these bottles with my own money so you guys get my actual, honest thoughts.
